Week 1–2
Orient + diagnostic
- Download the Praxis 5165 Study Companion
- Take a short mixed diagnostic (20–30 items) and log weak domains
- Create account on Math Path; enable flashcard progress sync
- Sketch NJ CE checklist: credits, Praxis date, P&H
Make it concrete
You do not need a perfect calendar on day one. You need a sequence, a weekly hour budget, and a rule: lectures never outrun practice questions.
Balanced 8-week path
ALG → FUNC → GEO → STAT → MIX
Front-load ALG/FUNC (60% of the exam), then GEO/STAT, then full mixed Praxis-style sets.
Calc-first (if rusty) path
FUNC → ALG → GEO → STAT → MIX
Rebuild functions/calculus language early so later algebra modeling clicks faster.
Stats-anxious path
STAT → ALG → FUNC → GEO → MIX
Knock out probability/stats wording early so it stops stealing mental energy.
Week 1–2
Week 3–6
Week 7–8
Week 9–10
Even on busy weekdays: 20 MCQs + review rationales + 10 flashcards. Zero lecture-only days after week 1.
Common heuristic: cumulative MCQ accuracy trending upward, weak topics repaired, and mock exams near your course's readiness benchmark. If mocks are chaotic, delay — NTS windows are expensive teachers.
