Definition
Two or more quantities change with time and are linked by an equation. Differentiate the relation wrt t, plug in known rates, solve for the unknown rate.
Read this
Steps: draw → assign variables → write geometric/algebra relation → differentiate wrt t → plug known values (often after differentiating, not before) → solve.
Units matter: rates are like cm/s, ft³/min. Include them in answers.
